Paphos

Paphos (Pafos) the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite the goddess of love is very popular with tourists. The town of Paphos is split between two main areas; Paphos Town and Kato (lower) Paphos. Amongst its attractions are the ancient mosaic floors in the Tombs of the Kings, a world heritage site, its beautiful old harbour with its medieval fort, and modern hotels and restaurants, spread along the seaside promenade of Kato Paphos. Other sights include an archaeological museum, The Byzantine castle of Paphos and just a few miles away the Chrysorrogiatissa monastery with its fine icons. Close by are the wonderful beaches of Coral Bay and The Akamas peninsula, an area of natural wilderness with a dramatic coastlines and sandy coves.

Paphos has something for everyone. In addition to the historical sites and the natural attractions of the area it is also a modern resort offering a variety of activities, an exciting nightlife, and amusements for the young and old.
There are three golf courses in the Paphos region, Tsada, Secret Valley and Aphrodite Hills. All of these are open to visitors for the usual green fees. Both Kato Paphos and Coral Bay provides a wide range of water sports as well a diving and diving instruction, Go Carting, horse riding and crazy Golf are all available.
The night life centers around two main areas, Bar Street in the centre of Kato Paphos and the Tomb of the Kings road. Night life is both noisy and lively with live entertainment, discos, and night clubs. Paphos Restaurants match many a large city with its range of cosmopolitan food. Many of the Restaurants also offer live entertainment on special evenings. There are also plenty of bars and pubs, offering pub food and international beers although the local brews are very popular.

Paphos bird and Animal Park, and Paphos Aquarium both provide a day out for the family and a visit to snake George who is an expert on snakes in Cyprus is well worth a visit.
The climate of Paphos is excellent; the sun shines almost every day with temperatures easily reaching 30c in the summer. It is a perfect place to visit. Enjoy all that it has to offer.
